African Frog re-Discovered After 62 years!

The Bururi Long-fingered Frog, a species found only in the African nation of Burundi was thought to be extinct, but a population of these frogs was found in the Bururi Forest Preserve.

Diamondback Terrapins recorded in Broome's Island SE

Some hatchling terrapins were found on Broome's Island this past week.  The young turtles likely hatched last fall and overwintered in or near their original nest.  The recent warm spell has prompted an early appearance of numerous reptiles and amphibians this spring.

There was a great chorus of Spring Peepers at this site last night.

We set up the FrogLogger right outside the CHESPAX office (Lower Marlboro, SE) last night.  Even those little fiberglass ponds can attract some frogs!  A few Spring Peepers can be heard on this sound clip.
